UK tax practitioner, qualifying in US tax

I'm an experienced UK tax practitioner — a Chartered Tax Adviser and Fellow of the Association of Taxation Technicians, with nearly twenty years spent building and running my own chartered accountancy practice in Scotland before selling it.

I'm also a dual US/UK citizen. Born in London to an American mother, I've spent my life with a foot on both sides of the Atlantic — and dealing with the tax consequences that come with it.

Right now, I'm immersing myself in US tax preparation. I'm building toward my own cross-border practice, North Atlantic Tax — but my focus at the moment is deepening my hands-on US experience, and I'm keen to take on subcontract and contract work to do it. If you're a firm with US preparation you'd like a capable, experienced pair of hands for, I'd be glad to talk.

Why work with me

Two decades of running a practice means I know how to handle client work properly — accurately, on time, and with judgement. I'm UK-qualified and completing my US Enrolled Agent exams now, so I'll soon be qualified on both sides — and my lived cross-border experience means I understand both systems and how they interact, not just one.

I run my own Drake setup and have prepared and filed cross-border returns for myself and my family — so I know the software and the practical realities of US preparation, not just the theory.

I now live between the UK, the US, and Colombia, working remotely across time zones — so working with a firm anywhere isn't a stretch, it's just how I already operate.

And I'm not a paper-and-fax accountant. My background is in technology — I worked at Hewlett Packard, hold an MSc in Data Science, and I still write code (in Python, both myself and AI-assisted) to build tools and automate the tedious parts of the work. I work digitally, with modern tools and proper care for data security. I slot into the way you already work.
